Ramar's single-driver book is conventional general-freight OTR — port drayage, plant-to-distribution, and retail consolidation on predictable Atlantic Coast lanes. The role exists because not every driver wants to run team-style coverage, and we have dedicated general-freight lanes that don't require it.
Hazmat-endorsed single drivers also pick up Class 1.4 loads (small-arms ammunition, consumer fireworks, and other non-attended Class 1 cargo) when those loads fit the lane. The attendance-required Class 1 freight — 1.1, 1.2, and certain 1.3 — runs team-driver only; see the team-drivers page for that program.
Same recruiting requirements, same compliance standards, and the same dispatcher relationship as our team-driver program. We run small enough that you'll know your dispatcher's name and they'll know your loads.
Minimum requirements
- Valid CDL Class A with HM (Hazmat) endorsement
- Minimum 1 year CDL experience
- Clean MVR
- TWIC card recommended (Ramar covers cost if obtaining)
- DOT physical + DOT drug screen current
