Brunswick is the second of Georgia Ports Authority's two seaports and is the largest ro/ro (roll-on/roll-off) port in the United States by volume. Colonel's Island Terminal handles vehicle imports and exports — primarily new automobiles — at scale that exceeds even Baltimore. Mayor's Point and East River handle bulk and breakbulk: agricultural products, project cargo, and energy-segment freight.
For Ramar customers, Brunswick is a reference port rather than a primary drayage origin. The port's freight profile — ro/ro autos, forest products, bulk ag — does not align with Ramar's Class 1 asset-based offering. Class 1 freight in the Brunswick region routes via military terminals (Kings Bay, NWS Charleston) or via Savannah commercial — both inside Ramar's actual operating network.
Kings Bay (Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay) sits 30 miles south of Brunswick and is one of the U.S. Navy's two strategic submarine bases (Trident submarines). Defense-vertical freight associated with Kings Bay routes via military coordination, not commercial drayage.
